Furaveri Maldives is one of those places that feels much bigger in real life than it does in photos. Set in the Raa Atoll, the resort combines wide beaches, dense tropical greenery and a house reef with the easy pace that makes the Maldives such a special destination for couples.
What stayed with us most was the contrast between the different parts of the island. One moment you are walking beneath coconut palms, the next you are looking across a completely open turquoise lagoon. Our Furaveri Maldives review is based on the things that mattered most during our stay: the arrival, the island itself, the villas, food, wellness and the experiences that made the trip feel personal rather than simply luxurious.
Furaveri Maldives is nestled in one of the Maldives’ most peaceful corners, the Raa Atoll, around 45 minutes from Velana International Airport by seaplane. The flight itself is part of the experience, giving you a first look at the atolls from above before you reach the island.
The Furaveri Lounge makes the wait before the transfer more comfortable, with snacks, drinks, massage chairs and private showers. Once you arrive at Furaveri Maldives, the welcome feels warm and personal rather than formal, and the transition from airport to island is surprisingly smooth.

The island is naturally formed, with a wide beach, tropical vegetation and a house reef that gives Furaveri Maldives much of its character. Unlike resorts that feel heavily engineered, this one still gives you the sense of being on a real island rather than inside a carefully staged setting.
Walking beneath the palms and through the greener parts of the island is one of the simple things we enjoyed most. The atmosphere changes throughout the day, from bright lagoon views in the morning to softer light and quieter beaches toward sunset.
At Furaveri Luxury Resort, you can choose from a wide range of villas and suites designed to suit every preference. What we loved most was the flexibility to experience two different types of villas during our stay because we weren’t limited to just one. We opted for an overwater villa and a beach villa with a private pool. We asked the same question to other resorts, and they didn’t have this option included.
We had the chance to experience both sides of paradise at Furaveri – the Overwater Villa and the Beach Pool Villa and each revealed a different kind of magic.

Beach Pool Villa
We began our stay in a Beach Pool Villa, a private hideaway surrounded by lush greenery and tall coconut trees. Every now and then, a curious waterhen would wander out from the bushes — a small reminder that you’re truly in the heart of a natural island. The best part? The ocean and its soft white sand were just a few barefoot steps away.
The bathroom was a true highlight — a seamless blend of indoor comfort and outdoor freedom. Designed with beautiful wooden details and natural textures, it felt like stepping into a tropical spa. There were two rain showers — one indoors and another under the open sky — letting you choose between privacy or the luxury of showering surrounded by nature. The large freestanding bathtub stood at the center, framed by lush plants and soft light filtering through the wooden beams. It became our favorite evening ritual — a long, quiet soak under the stars with only the sound of the ocean nearby.
One of the most memorable moments from our beach pool villa was our floating breakfast, a kind of experience that feels straight out of a dream. It was the perfect slow morning indulging in different beverages and plenty of delicious food. It’s an experience you must try when staying with Furaveri Maldives.
Overwater villa
There is something amazing about waking up directly above the turquoise lagoon, with only the sound of gentle waves beneath your feet and surrounded by silence. The overwater villa didn’t had a private pool, but after experiencing the beach pool villa, we didn’t feel the need for it. The private deck had an amazing bath and shower outside, so the experience was more authentic for the DuoEscape team.
Inside, the villa felt airy and peaceful — modern yet warm, with panoramic windows that made the ocean part of the room itself.
Food is an important part of a longer island stay, especially when you are not leaving the resort every evening. Furaveri has a broad mix of dining options, from the main buffet restaurant, Jaafaiy, to specialty restaurants serving Asian fusion, Mexican, seafood, Indian vegetarian, Japanese and Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
The variety helps because you do not have to repeat the same type of meal every day. Raiyvilla is particularly well placed for sunset, while Amigos sits over the water at the edge of the reef. For couples who want a more relaxed stay without constantly thinking about individual bills, Furaveri’s Premium All-Inclusive option can make a lot of sense. The current plan combines the main buffet restaurant with selected set-menu options and dining credits at specialty restaurants, alongside drinks and a number of resort activities.
What we like about this style of package is the freedom it gives you during the day. You can decide where to eat based on your mood rather than always calculating the extra cost. Inclusions do change over time, so we would still check the latest plan before booking rather than assuming every restaurant or activity is included.
Furaveri’s Wellness Village feels deliberately separate from the busier parts of the resort. Built around a village-style concept with wooden and bamboo details, it focuses on spa treatments, holistic wellness and quieter time away from the beach and pool.
Even if you are not planning a full wellness holiday, having this kind of space on the island changes the rhythm of the stay. A spa afternoon works especially well after snorkelling or a few days in the sun, and it gives couples another way to enjoy the resort beyond the usual beach-and-villa routine.
The house reef is one of the strongest reasons to choose Furaveri if you enjoy spending time in the water. You can snorkel around the island and explore coral gardens without needing every experience to be a separate boat excursion. The resort also offers diving, water sports and activities such as kayaking and stand-up paddling.
For us, the best part is that you can mix active days with very slow ones. A morning in the water can easily turn into an afternoon on the beach and a sunset drink later on. That balance is also why Furaveri works well for a honeymoon or couples trip: there is enough to do, but nothing forces you into a schedule.
For couples looking for a natural island, different villa styles, a good choice of restaurants and easy access to the sea, Furaveri Maldives is a very complete option. It does not feel like a tiny resort where you run out of places to explore after one day, yet it still keeps the barefoot atmosphere that most people travel to the Maldives for in the first place.
We would especially recommend Furaveri Maldives if you want to split your stay between a beach villa and an overwater villa. Experiencing both sides of the island made the trip feel more varied, and each villa offered a completely different way of enjoying the same destination.
